Continuous shooting delay

According to the specs my Rebel XSi shoots at 3.5 fps but I always get a delay on the 3rd shot. No matter what settings I use there's a busy message flashing for a split second. My friends XT shoots much faster with no delay. I have a highspeed memory card and a fresh battery but still get the same results. Anyone else have this problem and knows how to fix it?

Have you verified that High ISO Noise reduction is switched off? Its one of the custom functions and slows down continuous shooting significantly.

Ron is right, noise reduction is most probably the issue. You can also read that in your manual ;-)

Turned off noise reduction and now have a machine gun - yiehaaa!
